A government health agency in the UK is seeking an Epidemiology and Information Analyst to support and manage infectious disease reporting for NHS and Private laboratories. The role involves data analysis, quality assurance, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure compliance and accuracy in reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a background in health data management.
We are looking for an Epidemiology and Information Analyst within the Central Laboratory Surveillance team which forms part of Field Services within Health Protection in Regions directorate. The Laboratory Surveillance team have responsibility for managing and supporting infectious disease reporting from both the NHS and the Private sector, ensuring all results which form part of the Health Protection Notification Regulations are being reported and meet the minimum standard required for epidemiology surveillance. The team is responsible for ensuring any new and emerging threats in infectious diseases are configured for reporting by diagnostic laboratories. The post will provide support to regionally based Field Service teams in managing and supporting laboratories reporting to the UKHSA national laboratory surveillance system (SGSS), monitoring of daily file imports, correcting incorrect results, liaising with laboratories, and extracting data. The post-holder will also work to ensure nationally agreed objectives are being delivered successfully locally within regional Field Service teams and contribute to work in completing regular audits and ensuring any anomalies in data are resolved.
You will be required to complete an application form (Employer/ Activity history section) and a 1250‑word maximum Statement of Suitability. The statement should outline how your skills, experience, and knowledge provide evidence of your suitability for the role. The application will be scored on the form and statement. If a large number of applications are received, a two‑stage sift will be conducted: first against the essential criteria, then against the desirable criteria. Successful candidates will proceed to a competency‑based interview with a remote session scheduled at the week commencing 15th December 2025.
