Job Summary

Tradebe are currently looking for an Environmental Waste Operator to be based on our Winfrith Site in Dorset. The main role of the job is to perform tasks supporting radioactive waste projects in support of business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Radioactive Waste Plant Operations
• Waste Movements
• Housekeeping
• Carry out processing operations across a range of applications including cementation, super‑compaction, size reduction, sort and segregation, decontamination and chemical processing.
• Work at Winfrith and other sites as required, including on rotas and weekends.
• Use PPE and RPE; apply Health & Safety, Environmental and Security regulations on a Nuclear Licensed Site.
• Apply manual handling techniques and Safe Systems of Work including Risk Assessments.
• Demonstrate Health & Safety commitment and report safety issues to site management.
• Operate forklift trucks, cranes, slingers and prepare radioactive waste packages for disposal.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of operational work areas.

Requirements

• Valid UK driving licence.

• FLT certificate.
• Gantry crane and slinger experience (training can be given).
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet timescales.

Desirable Skills

• Operational plant set‑up, operation, control, monitoring and dismantling experience.
• Knowledge of safety documentation such as method statements and risk assessments.
• Experience on radioactive plant and with radioactive materials.
• IT equipment proficiency.
