Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Waste Operative to collect hospital waste and laundry, segregate and process waste in line with Trust policies. The role includes operating electric vehicles and bulk compactors, ensuring compliance with Waste Permit Conditions and carrying out routine cleaning and inspections.

The post involves external duties such as litter collection and bin emptying, with other duties as delegated by Environmental Services Supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Collect hospital waste and laundry in accordance with the schedules set by the Environmental Services Supervisor.
• Segregate, transport and process waste as dictated by the Trusts Policy for the Management of Waste.
• Operate the Trusts electric vehicles and bulk waste compaction machines.
• Ensure that all aspects of the Waste Permit Conditions are adhered to.
• Place specific categories of waste in the appropriate skip for off site disposal or recycling.
• Clean bulk waste storage areas and waste containers as per schedule determined by the Environmental Services Supervisor.
• Carry out external environmental duties, including the collection of litter and emptying of bins.
• Carry out inspections of all mobile equipment used.
• Follow the incident reporting procedure in the event of accidents occurring during environmental activities.
• To carry out any other duties, appropriate to the role, as may be delegated.
