Job summary

Element Materials Technology is seeking an Environmental Technician based at our Stockport site. The role supports the environmental field services team with sampling, monitoring and reporting on project sites, with on-site training and progression toward MCERTS qualification in Stack Emissions Testing.

You will travel to client sites, conduct site inductions, operate emission measurement equipment and manage records in our accredited QMS, ensuring safety and compliance at all times.

Qualifications

  • Interest in environmental monitoring and industrial processes.
  • Full driving license essential due to extensive travel including overnight stays.
  • Experience in a similar role is advantageous but full training will be provided.
  • Good team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Team Leader during on-site sampling and monitoring activities.
  • Drive to client sites and participate in site inductions and risk assessments.
  • Set up monitoring locations and operate equipment to measure emission levels.
  • Maintain site information and process activity records; communicate with customers and regulators.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols and maintain calibration of test equipment.
  • Handle and shipment of samples to laboratories and maintain stock of consumables.

Job description

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a new Environmental Technician based from our Stockport site, whose prime responsibility is to assist the regional environmental field services department in environmental testing and reporting at project sites. Excellent career progression with full on-site training, whilst working toward MCERTS qualification in Stack Emissions Testing. Training period with assessments is 2-2.5 years with pay increments at each stage.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Team Leader during on-site sampling and monitoring activities
  • Driving to client sites
  • Site inductions and participation in risk assessments
  • Accessing monitoring locations and setting up equipment
  • Operation of sampling and test equipment to measure emission levels
  • Collation of site information relating to the monitoring and corresponding process activities
  • Interaction and communication with customer contacts, regulators, etc
  • Adherence to company and client health and safety protocols
  • Cleaning, preparation, repair, calibration and maintenance of test equipment
  • Maintaining stocks of consumable items
  • Handling and shipment of samples to laboratoriesMaintenance of numerous records in accordance with our accredited QMS
Skills / Qualifications
  • Interest in environmental monitoring and industrial processes
  • Ideally qualified to either A-Level, HNC or Degree ideally in an environmental related subject but not a necessity
  • Experience in a similar role would be advantageous, however full training will be provided
  • A full driving license is essential as extensive travel, including overnight stays, will be involved
  • You will be a good team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
  • You will be comfortable working outdoors, at heights, in physically strenuous situations, and where manual handling of scientific equipment is required
  • Attention to detail and a desire to provide excellent customer service are desirable characteristics of the successful candidate
