We're looking for a proven sustainability leader who can bring people together, influence at all levels of the business, and translate ambitious sustainability goals into practical, measurable results.

You’ll provide strategic leadership and deep technical expertise across multiple sustainability disciplines including carbon, circular economy, water, responsible sourcing, and BREEAM Infrastructure certification. You’ll also play a critical role in shaping business decisions, influencing senior stakeholders and Board-level leaders, and ensuring sustainability remains embedded across every aspect of the project.

Why Join as an Environmental Sustainability Manager?
This role offers the opportunity to:
  • Lead and develop a growing team of environmental sustainability professionals
  • Shape the sustainability strategy of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects
  • Influence senior leaders, executive stakeholders and external regulators
  • Drive real-world sustainability outcomes at a nationally important scale
  • Own and lead key sustainability programmes from concept through to delivery
  • Help deliver industry‑leading performance across carbon, circular economy, water, responsible sourcing, and BREEAM Infrastructure certification
  • Play a visible leadership role within a highly collaborative and values‑driven sustainability function

If you're looking for a position where you can combine strategic leadership, technical excellence and meaningful impact, this is an exceptional opportunity.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading the further development and implementation of the Sizewell C Environmental Sustainability agenda
  • Contributing to the strategic direction, culture and performance of sustainability across the business
  • Providing technical leadership across carbon, circular economy, water, responsible sourcing, and BREEAM Infrastructure certification
  • Managing sustainability programmes from inception through to successful delivery
  • Influencing and engaging senior leaders, regulators, suppliers and key project stakeholders
  • Leading a high‑performing team
What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate strong leadership, excel at building collaborative relationships across organisations, and bring substantial technical expertise and credibility.

You’ll likely have:
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, including leading high-performing teams and developing people
  • Significant experience within major infrastructure, construction, or other complex capital projects
  • Significant proven experience in environmental sustainability
  • Deep technical expertise across environmental sustainability disciplines, including carbon management and PAS2080, water, circular economy, sustainable procurement, and BREEAM Infrastructure
  • Proven experience developing and implementing sustainability strategies and translating them into measurable outcomes.
  • Experience influencing senior executives, regulators, clients, and external stakeholders
  • Excellent relationship‑building and stakeholder management skills
  • A collaborative and engaging leadership style, with the ability to bring teams together and drive delivery
  • Degree qualification in Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • Membership of professional organisation such as ISEP, ICE, CIWEM or an equivalent professional body
  • Experience managing regulatory, investor or sustainability commitments
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments, such as nuclear, energy, utilities, transport, water or other nationally significant infrastructure sectors.

For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK. As a project, we do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home‑grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low‑carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low‑carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind‑boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
