Job summary

PWE Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead environmental compliance and sustainability performance on Sizewell C, a major nuclear construction project in Leiston, Suffolk. This senior, site-based role heads a multidisciplinary E&S team and interfaces with regulators and senior project leadership.

You will manage environmental permitting, ISO 14001 frameworks, and drive continuous improvement across the construction and commissioning phases,

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of Environmental / Sustainability teams on large, regulated infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental permitting and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with regulators, principal contractors, and clients.
• Experience implementing Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental and sustainability compliance across a major nuclear construction site.
• Ensure compliance with DCO requirements, environmental permits, licences, consents, and ISO 14001.
• Manage and develop a site-based E&S team (c.10 staff).
• Drive environmental performance across Tier 1 contractors and supply chain.
• Lead site inspections, audits, monitoring, and environmental investigations.
• Act as interface with the Environment Agency and other regulators.
• Develop KPIs, reporting, and performance dashboards.
• Influence delivery teams across civil, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning phases.
• Promote best practice and a strong compliance culture.

Location:Leiston Suffolk

We are seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead environmental compliance and sustainability performance on Sizewell C, a nationally significant nuclear infrastructure project.

This senior, site-based role leads a multidisciplinary Environment & Sustainability team and provides assurance across construction, installation, commissioning, and handover. You will act as the primary interface with regulators, Tier 1 contractors, and senior project leadership, operating within a highly regulated DCO and permit-led environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead environmental and sustainability compliance across a major nuclear construction site.
• Ensure compliance with DCO requirements, environmental permits, licences, consents, and ISO 1401.
• Manage and develop a site-based E&S team (c.10 staff).
• Drive environmental performance across Tier 1 contractors and supply chain.
• Lead site inspections, audits, monitoring, and environmental investigations.
• Act as primary interface with the Environment Agency and other regulators.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Broad construction knowledge across major infrastructure or energy projects.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related discipline.
• Experience implementing Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
