Job summary

STEP Fusion, operating as UK Fusion Energy Ltd (UKFE), seeks a senior environmental leader to define and deliver the environmental strategy for the STEP programme. You will provide programme-level assurance on environmental risks and integrate BAT into engineering and operations.

You will lead environmental consenting, permitting, and regulatory engagement while building a high‑performing team across engineering, construction, and delivery, shaping fusion energy delivery responsibly.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in environmental and sustainability management within regulated industries.
• Experience delivering environmental strategies for major infrastructure or energy programmes.
• Experience leading environmental consenting, permitting and regulatory engagement.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver the environmental strategy across the STEP programme.
• Lead the development of the Environmental Case and manage environmental risks.
• Oversee permitting, regulatory engagement and BAT integration into design.
• Build and lead a high-performing environmental team across engineering and delivery.
