Position: Full Time (40 hours/week, Monday to Friday)

RiverRidge operates Northern Ireland's most integrated Waste Management operation. Initially acquired in 2011, the Company has undergone substantial investment over the past number of years which has transformed it from a small skip hire and landfill business to the fully integrated waste recovery operation it is today. Today the Company is able to divert significant tonnages away from landfill through a variety of customer focused diversion solutions. The Company's commitment to landfill diversion is supported by its multi-site leading edge mechanical treatment infrastructure as well as its Belfast located Waste to energy facility. In 2022 RiverRidge launched our Environmental, Social and Governance ESG strategy 'Rethinking our Future' which saw the Company take a long-term view of our business, our place within the community and the planet, as well as looking after our people. As part of that strategy, we made a commitment to publicly report annually on our performance, offering our stakeholders clear visibility of our sustainable work practices and our vision 'to treat waste as a valuable resource', and in doing so, ensure a positive outcome for both our planet and our communities.

About the role

This role will enable you to gain fantastic insight and hands on experience working within this fast-paced Waste Management Operation to allow you to get the training and experience that you need to build a strong foundation and understanding in ESG. You will play a key role in supporting our ESG analysis and reporting requirements and assist in the preparation of our ESG reports. You will be supported and mentored, as well as following a structured training programme designed to develop your skills. It's essential that you'll be highly communicative with colleagues and your line manager to ensure you get the most out of this fantastic opportunity. We offer a competitive package, with the opportunity to progress to a full-time role as a ESG Analyst after 12 months.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you will assist in the collation, analysis, interpretation of ESG data from a variety of sources and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research on ESG-related topics, such as climate change, carbon reduction, and supply chain management, and corporate governance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of ESG scoring methodologies and frameworks.
  • Contribute to the preparation of ESG reports and present findings to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the preparation of SECR and ESOS reports.
  • Work with various divisions throughout the group to help develop and integrate ESG considerations into our processes and strategies.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practice and evolving ESG standards.
  • As you progress in your development, build a strong understanding of our company and our industry, provide support on a diverse range of project-based assignments and management activities, and provide general assistance to the different stakeholders within the group.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by Management.
Essential Criteria
  • Successfully completed a Degree in either Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Sustainability discipline.
  • Strong interest in ESG.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated, self-driven and passionate about learning and developing your skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and can monitor and present data in a clear and structured manner.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behaviour and absolute discretion with sensitive information.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to support multiple tasks and projects and meet deadlines.
  • Tenacious attitude, willing to put required effort into achieving learning goals.
  • Highly competent in various Microsoft Office packages (e.g., Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Must have full UK/EU Driver's Licence and appropriate business insurance cover, as this role will involve travel to other sites throughout the group/customer premises.
Desirable Knowledge

Knowledge of ESG frameworks and standards; previous waste industry experience; Carbon Literacy; Knowledge of SECR and ESOS reporting requirements.
