Environmental Site Auditor

Location: Hybrid - Thames Valley, Home Counties, or London area

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time, permanent

As an Environmental Site Auditor, you'll play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance, supporting operational teams, and driving continuous improvement across vital infrastructure sites.

What you'll be doing
  • Conduct site environmental and permit compliance audits across a range of operational assets, including treatment works, pumping stations, and waste facilities.
  • Support operational teams by providing training and guidance on Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise audit reports and action plans for operational managers.
  • Highlight non‑compliances and work collaboratively to ensure timely resolution.
  • Track and report on audit progress, risks, and key findings within your region.
  • Assist teams with preparation for external and regulatory audits.
What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and permit compliance.
  • Knowledge of wastewater pumping and treatment processes.
  • Confident IT skills, particularly Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety requirements for operational sites.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with front‑line operational teams in utilities or environmental sectors.
  • Background in ISO‑accredited management systems.
  • Experience engaging with regulators on operational matters.
  • Familiarity with sludge treatment processes or pollution prevention control.
  • Qualification in an environmental or science‑related discipline.
  • Auditing qualification and/or Power BI reporting skills.
