Job summary

Cirrus Selection is recruiting an Environmental Project Engineer based in Stevenage with hybrid working and a salary up to £55,000, plus a bonus and a 14% pension. This role centers on defining environmental requirements and leading qualification and proving strategies, delivering tests from concept to certification and in-service support.

You will work with Systems, Design and Proving teams, ensuring environmental compliance is embedded in early design decisions, not added later.

Qualifications

• Experience across vibration, shock, temperature, humidity and environmental standards in a regulated/defence-led environment.
• Ability to define environmental requirements and shape qualification strategies.
• Strong communication and prioritisation skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Environmental Project Engineer

This role sits at the heart of environmental engineering. You’ll be defining environmental requirements, shaping qualification and proving strategies, and delivering test activity that takes complex defence products from concept through to certification and in-service support.

It’s a role with ownership. You won’t just run tests, you’ll help decide what needs to be tested, why, and how. You’ll work closely with Systems, Design and Proving teams, acting as a technical interface for specific work packages and ensuring environmental compliance is built in, not bolted on.

We’re looking for someone with experience across areas such as vibration, shock, temperature, humidity and environmental standards, ideally within a regulated or defence-led environment. Just as important is the ability to think critically, manage priorities and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
