Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join a major nationally significant infrastructure project in Birmingham. You will lead environmental management across the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards while driving sustainability initiatives.

As part of the SHE team, you will advise on environmental risks, engage with stakeholders and contractors, and contribute to continuous improvement within a large-scale

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in Environmental, Sustainability or related discipline.
  • IEMA membership or working towards membership.
  • Strong understanding of environmental management principles.
  • Experience on major infrastructure, construction or engineering projects.
  • Experience supporting environmental compliance in complex project environments.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and best practice.
  • Experience in large-scale project delivery environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence diverse teams with environmental guidance.
  • Experience on nationally significant infrastructure or major capital projects.
  • Chartered status or progress towards accreditation.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join a major nationally significant infrastructure project. Based in Birmingham, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the delivery phase of a large-scale engineering and construction programme, ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability objectives are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.

Working as an integral member of the SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) team, you will provide environmental leadership across project activities, supporting operational teams and stakeholders to maintain the highest environmental standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee environmental management activities across the project.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, permits, approvals, and company standards.

  • Support project teams in identifying and managing environmental risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans, procedures, and controls.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in an Environmental, Sustainability or related discipline.
  • Professional membership of IEMA or working towards membership.
  • Strong understanding of environmental management principles and practices.
  • Experience in environmental management within major infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects.
  • Experience supporting environmental compliance within complex project environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Experience working within project delivery environments and supporting large-scale infrastructure programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence, engage and provide clear environmental guidance to diverse teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience working on nationally significant infrastructure or major capital projects.
  • Experience within large-scale framework or programme-based delivery environments.
  • Chartered status or progress towards a relevant professional accreditation.

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
