Job summary

Park Avenue Recruitment is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer for a Private Sector Housing contract in Cambridgeshire. The role is on an initial 6-month contract, paying £50-£55 per hour, and aims to improve housing standards across the borough.

You will investigate housing complaints, carry out HHSRS assessments, inspect private rented properties, and support HMO licensing while working with partners to respond to changing legislation, including Renters' Rights Act.

Qualifications

• Experience in Private Sector Housing within a Local Authority.
• Strong understanding of Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS.
• Experience with inspections relating to disrepair, hazards and licensing.
• Confidence managing enforcement cases from investigation to resolution.
• Excellent report-writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake housing complaints investigations and carry out HHSRS assessments.
• Inspect private rented sector properties to ensure compliance with housing legislation.
• Take informal and formal enforcement action where required.
• Produce notices, schedules of work, reports, and case records.
• Provide advice and guidance to landlords, tenants, and agents.
• Support the delivery of HMO licensing and related regulatory activity.
• Work alongside internal and external partners to improve housing standards across the borough.
