Job summary

A leading energy job board is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to support a Health Protection Team in Shropshire. The role involves conducting inspections, investigating complaints, and preparing legal reports. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Environmental Health, EHRB registration, and at least 2 years of experience. This is a contract position paying £50 per hour with a duration of 3 months.

Job Title

Environmental Health Officer – Health Protection

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to support a Health Protection Team within a busy local authority in the Shropshire area.

Details
  • Rate: £50 per hour (via Umbrella Company, Inside IR35)
  • Start Date: 3rd November 2025
  • Duration: 3 months (6 weeks from 3rd Nov → 2 weeks off mid-Dec → 6 weeks from Jan 2026)
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct food hygiene and health & safety inspections (retail & catering premises)
  • Investigate complaints and provide regulatory advice
  • Prepare legal reports and undertake enforcement action where required
  • Support health protection priorities and contribute to service improvements
Requirements
  • Degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent)
  • EHRB registration and food inspection competency
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within a local authority EH team
  • Strong understanding of food law, H&S and enforcement processes
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
