Job summary

A local government authority in the UK seeks a qualified Environmental Health Officer to join their Food & Safety team. The successful candidate will carry out Food & Safety duties, requiring the REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health. You'll work on various sub-teams and must possess strong communication and IT skills. This role offers a hybrid working model, allowing a blend of home, field, and office work. A suitably qualified Environmental Health Officer is invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Food & Safety team, which is part of the Service’s Environmental Health & Trading Standards Unit.

Applicants must hold the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) Diploma in Environmental Health or have received confirmation from REHIS of the equivalency of their qualifications.

You will undertake a range of Food & Safety duties including Food Law, Occupational Health and Safety and Communicable Disease Investigation. The candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the sub‑teams of Port Health, Approved Establishments and/or Skin Piercing and Tattooing.

The ability to work as part of a team is essential although the ability to work unsupervised is also required.

You must be a self‑motivated, enthusiastic and able to work flexibly to meet the demands of the post. You must have excellent interpersonal, communication, reporting and IT skills. You must be mobile throughout the Council area.

The role will be delivered on a hybrid working model giving you the opportunity to combine working from home, in the field and in the office.
