Environmental Health Officer - £40-£45 per hour | 3-4 Days On-Site | 6-Month Interim Contract | 37 Hours per Week

We're currently supporting a local authority in sourcing an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to join their Environmental Protection & Community Safety Team on a 6-month interim basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified EHO to take on a varied and impactful role, working across statutory nuisance, environmental permitting, planning consultations, and community safety initiatives.

🔹 Key Details:
  • Rate: £40-£45 per hour (negotiable based on experience)
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Contract: 6-month interim
  • Location: 3 to 4 days on-site per week
  • Start Date: 3.11.25
🔹 Role Overview:

You'll be responsible for:

  • Investigating service requests and complaints (e.g. statutory nuisance, drainage, planning/licensing)
  • Conducting inspections and preparing detailed reports
  • Responding to planning and licensing consultations
  • Supporting environmental permitting and LAPPC surveys
  • Drafting formal notices and contributing to legal proceedings
  • Advising the public and liaising with partner agencies
  • Attending internal/external meetings and contributing to corporate projects
🔹 What We're Looking For:
  • EHORB Registered and qualified with a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental protection legislation
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
