Overview

We’re looking to recruit the next generation of Environmental Health Officer to join our team. Have you ever wondered what an Environmental Health Officer does? If yes – then read on!

Responsibilities
  • Inspecting and licensing private sector houses to check them against legal standards
  • Interrupting criminal landlords
  • Visiting different areas of the City to look at interventions to improve living conditions
  • Dealing with anti-social behaviour issues
  • Advising landlords to help them trade fairly
  • Working with partners to protect residents from frauds and scams
  • Investigating rogue landlords, preparing criminal cases, and giving evidence in court
Qualifications
  • A degree in Environmental Health
  • Completion of registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and passed the competence framework as a registered environmental health practitioner
  • Communication skills – listening, spoken and written
  • ICT skills – Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel)
  • Team player who is not afraid to try something new
  • Commitment to own personal and professional development
  • The ability and desire to learn, and the capacity to understand and interpret complex legislation
  • First class communication and customer service skills, high attention to detail, and great organisational skills
  • Perseverance, patience, the awareness to quickly read situations, and the ability to remain calm in sometimes difficult circumstances
