Environmental Health Consultancy Manager - Lead Safety, Food Hygiene and Compliance Excellence

Are you an experienced Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) with a strong background in Health & Safety, Food Safety, or Environmental Health consultancy? Do you want to drive high-impact improvements in safety performance for major UK brands?

Shield Safety, one of the UK’s leading Environmental Health and Safety Consultancies, is looking for a forward-thinking Environmental Health Consultancy Manager to lead our expert team and strengthen client safety culture across retail, hospitality and food sectors.

This role reports directly to the Head of Consultancy and plays a key part in shaping strategic delivery and client impact across the business.

In this senior role, you will use your EHP expertise to deliver strategic guidance, embed robust compliance systems and help clients achieve best-in‑class Food Safety and Health & Safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of Principal, Senior and Graduate Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs).
• Manage the delivery of high-quality Food Safety, Fire Safety and Health & Safety consultancy services.
• Act as a trusted advisor to major UK clients in retail, hospitality, leisure and food manufacturing.
• Ensure all consultancy output is practical, commercially aligned and consistent with Shield Safety products and services.
• Collaborate closely with internal Sales, Product and Commercial teams to support business growth.
• Maintain quality and governance standards, coaching consultants on communication, technical excellence and client engagement.
• Support CPD pathways, including CIEH Registered Practitioner development.
• Provide regular updates and insights to the Head of Consultancy to support strategic planning and decision-making.

About You

• Qualified Environmental Health Practitioner (CIEH Registered, Chartered, EHRB or EHORB).
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, motivate and develop a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong client relationship skills with excellent commercial awareness.
• Confident communicator able to translate technical Environmental Health advice into clear business solutions.
• Comfortable with remote and UK-wide field-based working.
• Experienced in reporting to senior leadership and supporting organisational strategy.
