Job summary

A dynamic consulting firm based in Bristol is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to support environmental programmes within a high-security environment. Candidates should have a STEM qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher and relevant experience in environmental projects. This role involves managing environmental requirements, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, and providing technical advice. The contract is until 31/03/2026, with a day rate of £300 to £400, requiring at least 3 days onsite per week.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher.
  • Proven experience in delivering successful environmental acquisition/support outcomes, ideally within the land domain.
  • Experience in providing technical advice related to environmental projects.
  • Relevant professional registration, such as Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech), Registered Science Technician (RSciTech), Engineering Technician (EngTech).
  • Current and active SC security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage contractual environmental requirements and oversee contractors performing environmental activities.
  • Specify system-specific environmental requirements considering broader system impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with UK legislation, Defence regulations, MOD policies, and DE&S standards.
  • Identify and evaluate environmental risks, contributing to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support development and maintenance of Environmental Management Systems and compliance activities.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the organisation, supporting environmental policy development and updates.
  • Participate in environmental testing, verification, validation, and evaluation processes.
  • Assist with the disposal and decommissioning of equipment, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Provide technical environmental advice to project decision-makers and project panels.
  • Support assurance activities related to environmental standards and practices.

We are working with a reputable client based in Bristol actively seeking a dedicated Environmental Engineer to join their team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals to contribute to impactful environmental programmes within a dynamic, high-security environment.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will support a broad spectrum of environmental activities, focusing on environmental performance, risk management, policy development, and compliance. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will advise on engineering design and environmental solutions to ensure adherence to UK legislation, Defence regulations, and MOD policies.

Contract Details

  • Contract Duration: Until 31/03/2026 with scope to extend
  • Day Rate: £300 to £400 (Inside IR35)
  • Security Clearance: Minimum SC clearance required
  • Based in Bristol, with an onsite requirement of 3 to 4 days per week
