Job summary

Principal People is recruiting an Environmental Advisor to support a long-term water framework in Scotland. The role focuses on practical site support, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement across live civils and utilities works.

You will work within the HSEQ function, engaging with operational teams, regulators, and supply chain partners from day one. Hybrid role across multiple projects with long-term secured work.

Qualifications

• Environmental qualification or related degree is required.
• Experience in an environmental role within construction, utilities, infrastructure, water, power, or civils.
• Good understanding of environmental legislation, environmental management systems, and risk management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• IEMA membership or working towards would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental compliance support across live infrastructure and construction projects.
• Support implementation of the environmental and HS&E strategy across the framework.
• Work closely with operational teams to promote a positive environmental culture.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and ISO 14001 compliance reviews.
• Manage environmental risks and support mitigation measures across projects.
• Support waste management compliance and environmental performance monitoring.
• Liaise with regulators, environmental authorities, clients, and supply chain partners.
• Investigate environmental incidents and non-conformities, identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Deliver environmental training, awareness sessions, and best practice guidance.
• Produce environmental reports and supporting continual improvement initiatives across the framework.
