Environment & Sustainability Advisor – Rail Systems

6 – 9 Month Contract | £375 - £450 per day

Based in Manchester with occasional trips to Huddersfield / Rail Sector

Role Purpose

Provide expert environmental and sustainability (E&S) support, guidance, and coordination to ensure compliance, continuous improvement, and positive environmental outcomes across the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement environmental audit and inspection schedules
  • Provide environmental input to work package plans and team activities
  • Support delivery of toolbox talks, training, and awareness sessions
  • Collate, analyse, and report on E&S performance data and trends
  • Lead investigations into environmental incidents and support improvement actions
  • Deliver E&S improvement projects and engagement campaigns
  • Maintain and update environmental procedures and guidance documents
What You’ll Need
  • Background in environmental management within rail or construction
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and compliance
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to analyse performance data and drive improvement initiatives
Success in the Role
  • Minimum of 2 site inspections per month
  • Timely close-out of environmental actions and investigations
  • Demonstrable improvements in E&S performance and awareness
