Job summary

BEAR Scotland is seeking an Environmental Advisor to support the NW Environmental Manager in delivering environmental and ecological work for proposed schemes on the NW NMC. Senior level may apply with flexible scope based on experience.

The role involves advisory support to design teams, managing ecological assessments, and collaborating with regulators and contractors across Scotland’s trunk road network.

Qualifications

• Degree in environment or ecology.
• Understanding of environmental impacts of infrastructure projects and EIA processes.
• Experience writing and reviewing environmental documents and reports.
• Strong knowledge of Scotland’s ecology and fieldwork.
• Good written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team and independently.
• Organisational and time-management skills; adaptable to changing workloads.
• Membership of a relevant professional body.
• Hold a full and current UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and advice to design teams on environmental matters.
• Manage a portfolio of environmental and ecological assessments for schemes.
• Promote environmental best practice in engineering and construction projects.
• Engage with environmental stakeholders and regulators.
• Liaise with contractors and consultants to ensure timely deliverables.
• Write reports communicating complex environmental issues clearly.
