Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an Environmental Advisor for a permanent role based in London. The position supports environmental compliance, regulatory engagement and performance reporting across UK and European operations, with regular travel to sites and contractor premises.

Responsibilities include maintaining compliance programmes, monitoring legislation, audits, and improving the Environmental Management System. Collaboration with Environmental Lead and HSSE teams will be essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in an environmental advisory, compliance or operational support role within energy, oil and gas or utilities.
• Understanding of UK and EU environmental legislation, permits, consents and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems, auditing and corrective action processes.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and maintenance of environmental compliance programmes across operational sites.
• Monitor developments in UK and EU environmental legislation and assess potential impacts on the business.
• Assist with environmental permit applications, regulatory submissions, compliance documentation, audits and inspections.
• Track actions arising from audits, incidents, inspections and environmental improvement plans.
• Support the development and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System, including internal audits and corrective actions.
• Provide practical environmental guidance to operations, engineering, maintenance and project teams.
• Support initiatives covering emissions management, pollution prevention, waste management, biodiversity, resource efficiency and climate resilience.
• Collect, validate and analyse environmental data, contributing to ESG, sustainability, emissions and regulatory reporting.

Job Requirements:

• Experience in an environmental advisory, compliance or operational support role, ideally within the energy, oil and gas or utilities sector.
• Understanding of UK and EU environmental legislation, permits, consents and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems, environmental auditing and corrective action processes.
• Awareness of HSS or HSSE principles and their application within operational environments.
• Strong understanding of environmental risk management, pollution prevention and sustainability improvement practices.
• Ability to collect, analyse and report environmental performance data accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Operations, Engineering, Projects and Asset Management teams.
• Relevant environmental, engineering or sustainability qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
