Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Environment Agency Collaborative Delivery Framework team in the Bristol/Wessex region on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role focuses on environmental management, compliance, and delivering sustainability targets across flood defence projects.

You will provide technical advice, conduct audits, and liaise with clients, regulators and subcontractors to drive best practice. Travel across the Bristol/Wessex region is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working as Environmental Advisor in infrastructure or construction sectors.
• Member of a professional body (e.g. IEMA, CIWEM, CIWM).
• Understanding of environmental legislation, impact mitigation and dealing with statutory authorities.
• Experience managing a variety of environmental risks with regard to time, cost and regulation.
• Value collaboration to achieve the best project outcomes.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to convey environmental risks and controls to diverse audiences.
• Working knowledge of ISO 14001.
• Full driving licence and ability to travel across the Bristol/Wessex region.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on environmental management and ensure compliance.
• Audit and report on environmental monitoring and audit programmes via site visits.
• Liaise with clients, regulators and subcontractors to drive best practice in environmental management and sustainability.
• Complete audits and inspections, investigate incidents and implement controls to prevent recurrence.
• Support delivery of project-level sustainability targets including environmental compliance, carbon reduction and social sustainability.

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Environment Agency Collaborative Delivery Framework team based in Bristol/Wessex region on a 12 month fixed term contract., Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

This is a unique opportunity to join our Environment Agency Collaborative Delivery Framework contract supporting flood defence projects across the South West. You'll oversee complex environmental matters, drive sustainability and ensure we're meeting our client's expectations on a complex framework. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on environmentally complex schemes where genuine innovation is being undertaken, and you'll form part of an award-winning team.

What will you be responsible for?

• Providing technical advice to project teams on environmental management and ensuring environmental compliance
• Ensuring effective implementation and reporting of our environmental monitoring regime and audit programme through site visits
• Liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors on matters of environmental management and sustainability to drive best practice
• Completing audits and inspections, investigating environmental incidents and implementing controls to prevent recurrence
• Helping to deliver project level sustainability targets covering environmental compliance, carbon reduction and social sustainability

Experience working in an Environmental Advisor role within the infrastructure or construction sectors
