Job summary

Culture Guru is recruiting a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager for London head office and live projects. This is a brand-new role reporting to the Health & Safety Director, with an HSE Apprentice under mentoring and a portfolio of London projects.

You will be on-site, lead HSE across multiple live sites, develop Construction Phase Plans, manage RAMS, deliver inductions, run safety meetings, investigate incidents, and drive ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001 initiatives.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety & Health is essential.
• NEBOSH National General Certificate is essential.
• Temporary Works Supervisor / Coordinator qualification is essential.
• Minimum 3–5 years' Health & Safety experience within construction.
• Strong grounding in risk management and legal compliance.
• CSCS card, First Aid at Work and Asbestos Awareness.
• Tech IOSH or Grad IOSH status (or working towards it).

Responsibilities

• Providing competent Health & Safety advice and direction to construction teams across multiple sites and divisions.
• Undertaking regular site inspections and audits, and ensuring actions are closed out within set timescales.
• Developing and reviewing Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans and Fire & Emergency Plans, and monitoring adherence.
• Reviewing subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure they're suitable and sufficient.
• Managing and delivering site-specific safety inductions.
• Investigating accidents and near misses, and ensuring correct reporting and corrective actions.
• Monitoring trade contractor and supply chain performance and competency against policy, legislation and contract.
• Attending and leading site H&S meetings and the quarterly Health & Safety Forums.
• Ensuring project and client H&S objectives and KPIs are achieved and reported against.
• Collating and verifying company H&S statistics for monthly and annual reports.

This isn't a backfill. It's a newly created seat at the table, reporting straight into the Health & Safety Director, supporting every division of the business, with an HSE Apprentice to mentor and a portfolio of live London projects to make your own.

This is a proper, boots‑on, site‑facing role – no hiding behind a desk. You'll be the go‑to safety voice across multiple live projects: inspecting, auditing, challenging and making sure the Health & Safety Management System lives on site, not in a ring binder. You'll shape Construction Phase Plans and Fire & Emergency Plans, tear through subcontractor RAMS, deliver inductions that people actually listen to, lead site H&S meetings, get to the bottom of incidents and near misses, and make sure every action is closed out on time. Behind the scenes you'll support the wider business on ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001 – and you'll have a real say in the initiatives that push performance forward.

We're looking for a confident construction safety professional who knows what good looks like on a busy site and isn't afraid to say so – but who builds a safety culture people buy into, rather than just policing one. You've got NEBOSH Construction, NEBOSH General and a Temporary Works qualification in your back pocket, and at least three to five years leading H&S on large construction projects. Calm, professional and assertive, you can influence anyone from the operative on the gate to the Divisional Director, and you're driven enough to raise standards without being asked twice. • Championing a positive safety culture and driving new H&S initiatives for continual improvement
• Mentoring and developing the HSE Apprentice

Ideal attributes of the successful candidate

• NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety & Health (essential)
• NEBOSH National General Certificate (essential)
• Temporary Works Supervisor / Coordinator qualification (essential)
• Minimum 3–5 years' Health & Safety experience within the construction industry, ideally on large projects
• Strong grounding in risk management and legal compliance
• NEBOSH Fire Strategy & Risk Management (highly desirable)
• Lifting or scaffolding experience, and Scaffolding Inspection Awareness (highly desirable)
• CSCS card, First Aid at Work and Asbestos Awareness
• Tech IOSH or Grad IOSH status (or working towards it)
• Calm, professional and assertive – able to communicate clearly and influence stakeholders at every level
• Confident with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and document control systems
• Able to evidence examples of exemplary H&S delivery
• Full UK driving licence
