Are you passionate about improving local environments and building strong community relationships?

Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking a proactive and community-focused Environment Community Liaison Officer to join our team and help deliver enhanced environmental standards across our borough.

About the Role

As an Environment Community Liaison Officer, you will act as the key link between the Council, elected Members, Parish and Town Councils, and the public. You'll oversee the delivery of environmental improvements, manage relationships with contractors and community groups, and support initiatives that go beyond the Council's core grounds and cleansing services.

You'll work closely with Environmental Locality Officers, Enforcement Teams, and other stakeholders to identify and deliver sustainable projects, respond to enquiries, and monitor service performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with Parish/Town Councils to identify environmental priorities and oversee delivery of improvement projects.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of Town and Parish Environmental Teams and contractors.
  • Develop and implement work programmes and action plans for environmental enhancements.
  • Provide cover for other Environment Liaison and Locality Officers as needed.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Experience in environmental maintenance and working with contractors.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable:
  • Qualification in environmental maintenance or a related discipline.
Skills & Attributes:
  • Excellent time management and IT skills.
  • Confident using mobile and desktop technology for monitoring and reporting.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Politically aware and customer-focused.
  • Comfortable working alone and in varied outdoor conditions.
