Overview

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Environmental Advisor to join a principal contractor who specialises in supplying and installing HVDC cables.

EGL1 is a two-gigawatt high voltage direct current electrical connection to be built between Torness in East Lothian, Scotland and Hawthorn Pit in County Durham. EGL1 is designed to unlock Scotland's renewable energy reserves by scaling up the UK's capacity to transport clean energy from where it is generated to where it is needed.

Package offered
  • £500 day rate.
  • Inside IR35.
  • 12-month initial contract, with view to stay on the project for the 4 year longevity.
  • Site based role from the Seaham site.
Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist environmental support and site supervision.
  • Ensuring compliance with all project's environmental obligations.
  • Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and Contractors Environmental Performance Requirements (CEPR) compliance.
  • Key interface between the site teams, the Environmental Management Team, regulators, and local stakeholders to ensure works are delivered in line with best practice environmental standards.
Experience / Qualifications
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, permitting, and best practice standards (e.g. CIRIA, BS 5228, ISO 14001).
  • Experience engaging with regulators (EA, SEPA, NE, NatureScot, etc.).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel along project route.
