Job summary

Irwin & Colton is partnering with a leading principal contractor to recruit an Environmental Advisor in High Wycombe. You will own environmental management and drive sustainability initiatives across a major construction project, collaborating with project teams, clients, and the wider Environmental and Sustainability function.

You will inspect sites, monitor KPIs, advise on regulatory compliance, carbon reduction and waste management, and support training and reporting within a proactive team

Qualifications

• Proven experience in environment and sustainability in construction or related sector.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and BREEAM.
• Degree in environment or sustainability; professional membership with IEMA, CIEEM, or CIWEM preferred.
• Ability to build relationships with external stakeholders to meet objectives.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular site environmental inspections and monitor KPIs; identify improvement opportunities.
• Support project teams with carbon reduction, waste management, and net zero initiatives.
• Provide guidance on environmental compliance, permits, licenses, and risk management.
• Assist with training, reporting, and project documentation with the Environmental & Sustainability team.

Are you an Environmental professional looking to take the next step in your career within one of Europe's largest principal contractors?

Irwin and Colton are delighted to announce that we are partnering with a leading principal contractor to recruit for an Environment Advisor. The role is supporting in the delivery of a major construction and engineering project in Buckinghamshire, which includes taking ownership of environmental management and sustainability initiatives, whilst working closely with project teams, clients and the wider Environmental and Sustainability function.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out regular site inspections and environmental monitoring, reviewing site performance against environmental KPIs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting project teams with carbon reduction, waste management and net zero initiatives.
• Providing guidance and advice to project teams on environmental compliance, including legislation, permits, licences and environmental risk management.
• Supporting training, reporting and project documentation, working closely with project managers, clients and the wider Environmental and Sustainability team.

Requirements and Competencies

• Proven experience in the environment and sustainability space within the construction industry or a related sector.
• Strong working knowledge of both ISO 14001 and BREEAM.
• A degree in a related environment or sustainability field and ideally holding a professional membership with a recognised environmental body (IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM)
• A strong ability to build relationships with external stakeholders to help meet strategic objectives.

A full UK driver's license would be beneficial for this position.
