Job summary

Pursuit Resources Group is recruiting an Entry Level Laboratory Assistant in Witham. No prior experience required; however, a genuine interest in science and high organisation is essential. Full training will be provided and shift work with a 10% allowance is offered.

Salary ranges from £24,960 to £26,256 per annum, with a 10% shift allowance. The role requires a driving licence and a willingness to commute or drive between estate units as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Undertake consistent and accurate laboratory weighing techniques and manipulation skills.
• Ensure that all assigned work is carried out in conformance with instructions, established methods, and quality standards.
• Demonstrate understanding of material types and their sample preparation requirements.
• If holding a current driving licence, act as a porter to other company units on the estate using the company van.
• Learn and apply the role and importance of UKAS ISO 17025 and ISO 9001:2000 within the laboratory.
• Ensure equipment is used efficiently and maintained as directed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy laboratory environment.
• Carry out other duties as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Assist the Team Leader in weighing analytical samples to a high degree of accuracy and within preset times.
• Report deviations from methods, systems, and procedures.

We are working on behalf of a leading organisation within the science industry who are recruiting an Entry Level Laboratory Assistant for an immediate start.

With no previous experience necessary, this role is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in science.

Previous experience is not essential; however, you must have a genuine interest in science, be highly organised, and be able to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and high standards.

Full training will be provided.

Salary: £24,960.00 – £26,256.00 per annum + 10% Shift Allowance (pro-Rata for FTC)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Shifts 6-1, 1-8 rotation (Due to shifts Public Transport is not available to Witham – therefore you must live in Witham or you are a car driver/access to a vehicle)

• Ensure equipment is used efficiently and effectively and maintained where directed.
• Maintain good housekeeping and a clean, safe, and tidy laboratory environment.
• Carry out other duties as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Assist the Team Leader in weighing analytical samples to a high degree of accuracy and within preset times.
• Report to the Supervisor any deviations from, or failures of, methods, systems, and procedures.

Necessary Skills and Experience – Entry Level Laboratory Assistant

• Computer literate.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers and local management.
• Ability to prepare and weigh samples with speed and accuracy, with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work in an organized and disciplined manner.
• Must hold a valid driving licence.

Qualifications

You do not have to have a degree in science to apply for this role. If you have a genuine interest in science, and hold a GCSE level qualification.

Please note, those who are interested in Bio-medical science or has a background in this area will not be suitable for this position. This role is working within metals and therefore it is preferred that should you have a degree in science it is one of the following:
