Job summary

Northern LGPS is seeking a Head of Enterprise Risk to shape how enterprise risk is understood, managed and embedded across the organisation. Reporting to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, you will design, implement and continually enhance the enterprise-wide risk management framework, covering material financial and non-financial risks.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in enterprise risk management, governance and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to engage with executives, regulators and external auditors.

Responsibilities

• Design and continuously enhance an enterprise risk management framework aligned with strategy, governance and risk appetite.
• Establish policies, procedures and governance structures for risk management across Northern.
• Provide second-line support in identifying and prioritising enterprise risks.
• Develop tools and dashboards to report risk exposures to executives, risk committees and the Board.
• Support risk appetite, thresholds and early warning indicators; escalate breaches.
• Collaborate with Investment Risk to integrate enterprise and investment risk perspectives.
• Embed risk management in business processes across Finance, Operations, Compliance and Legal.
• Contribute to ICARA, IFPR, Operational Resilience and RCSA processes.
• Maintain risk governance calendar and high-quality papers and documentation.
• Oversee risk governance, audits, risk workshops and training.
• Promote risk culture and ensure first line understands risk responsibilities.
• Lead and develop the enterprise risk team with objectives and performance indicators.
• Ensure aggregation and second-line oversight of risk information for decision-making.
