Job summary

Croydon University Hospital is seeking a Band 6 Enhanced Care Shift Leader to provide expert clinical leadership on shifts for Mental Health or Learning Disability patients. You will be the go-to clinical expert, drive safety, mentor junior staff, and shape outstanding patient experiences on every shift.

Lead with us to elevate care, coordinate patient flow with the multidisciplinary team, assess deterioration promptly, and support the Team Lead and Associate Director in daily operational

Qualifications

  • Registered mental health/learning disability nurse with significant Band 5 experience.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and care planning.
  • Ability to lead shifts and supervise others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical leadership and oversight during shifts, acting as the senior point of contact.
  • Mentor, support, and supervise junior staff, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Coordinate patient flow within the team and multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Conduct rapid assessments of deteriorating patients and elevate care appropriately.
  • Champion safety, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and policies.
  • Manage complex situations and clinical incidents, ensuring robust documentation.
  • Role-model exceptional, compassionate care and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Optimise resource allocation and support the Team Lead and Associate Director of Nursing for People with Mental Health Needs in daily operational delivery.
