Job description

Are you experienced in working one-to-one with children or young people and looking for flexible tutoring work? We’re seeking an enthusiastic English tutor to help young learners achieve academic progress and catch up with their peers.

About the Role:
  • Deliver engaging, face-to-face English lessons, often at the child’s residential home.
  • Work alongside schools and social workers to support children receiving alternative education.
  • Create tailored lesson plans and resources focused on each pupil’s individual needs.
  • Use creative and interactive teaching methods to boost students’ confidence and skills in English.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies and coping techniques, as many pupils may require additional support in this area.
  • Locations vary depending on pupil needs, with all sessions agreed upon in advance.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Expertise in English teaching or strong subject knowledge.
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEN.
  • Ability to manage different behaviours effectively.
  • Skill in planning and delivering engaging, cross-curricular lessons.
  • Commitment to helping pupils meet their learning goals and providing clear progress feedback.
Requirements:
  • A current DBS certificate (Update Service registered) is required.
  • Teaching Personnel can assist with DBS application if needed.
