Downend School is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of English to join us on a fixed-term maternity cover until January 2028. You will deliver engaging English lessons, nurture a positive classroom culture and provide pastoral support within a collaborative trust environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with QTS and proven English teaching across ages and abilities.
• Clear passion for English and ability to inspire learners.
• Strong knowledge of National Curriculum and how to translate it into deep learning.
• Personable, approachable, and able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
• Commitment to safeguarding and continuous professional development.

Responsabilités

• Create clear learning objectives and engaging lesson plans with pace and challenge.
• Establish a safe, welcoming classroom and supportive tutor group environment.
• Maintain high behaviour standards through positive relationships and teaching.
• Mark work, monitor progress, and set targets aligned to policies.
• Liaise with parents and external agencies to support student welfare.
