Pay Rate: Up to 232.56 per day

Role Overview

Tradewind are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed English Teacher to join a successful secondary school in the Halton area on a full-time supply basis from after the half-term holiday, through to at least the Christmas term. The post involves teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering both English Language and English Literature programmes, supporting students to achieve excellent outcomes and raising aspirations.

English Department & Curriculum

The English Department offers a rich, engaging and carefully sequenced curriculum designed to foster a love of literature, improve oracy and writing skills and equip students for success in examinations and life beyond school.

As the successful candidate, you will be expected to deliver engaging, high-quality lessons across KS3 & KS4, assess and track student progress, intervene where required to raise attainment, promote literacy and oracy across the curriculum, and contribute to the supportive and high-performing culture of the department and school.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified English teacher and holds QTS (or equivalent)
  • Has recent experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and KS4)
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of how to teach English Language and Literature, including preparing students for GCSE outcomes
  • Is able to motivate and engage students, and maintain high standards of behaviour and work ethic
  • Shares the school's values of respect, belief and giving your best, and supports the "growth mindset" culture
  • Has strong organisational skills, the ability to plan sequenced lessons, assess student progress and intervene where necessary
  • Is adaptable, proactive and able to integrate quickly into a new department, contributing positively to the team and the school ethos
