Job description

Affinity Workforce Solutions are working in partnership with a school in South Gloucester seeking a 0.8 English teacher to cover a maternity leave from January 2026 until January 2027. The role will involve teaching English to Years 7 to 11 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This role involves planning and marking and will be paid to scale.

The successful candidate should have values that align with the school, be enthusiastic and encouraging to the students in their classes and should have a passion for reading as well as inspiring the students both in and outside of the classroom.

The successful applicant:

  • Have Qualified Teachers Status
  • Have a sound understanding of Secondary Education
  • Have excellent literacy, Numeracy, and communication skills
  • Have confidence supporting the KS3 and KS4 curriculum
  • Have experience of supporting children in all aspects of the curriculum
  • Will be a team player, as well as using their initiative and good sense of humour
  • Have experience of working with children with a range of additional needs including Autism, Speech and language difficulties both in smalls groups and 1:1.
  • Have a positive approach and be flexible to the demands of the job.
