Job Title: English Teacher (Functional Skills & GCSE)
Location: Near Newcastle upon Tyne

Milk Education is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate English Teacher to join an amazing Alternative Provision. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated educator to make a real difference, supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

If you are passionate about helping young people rediscover their confidence, love of learning, and academic success, this is the perfect role for you!

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills and GCSE English lessons to small groups of no more than 6 students (and sometimes 1:1).
  • Adapt existing high-quality resources to meet the individual needs of your learners.
  • Inspire and motivate pupils to develop essential literacy skills, build confidence, and achieve personal success.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with a small, dedicated team to deliver a coherently planned and sequenced curriculum.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Functional Skills and/or GCSE English to secondary-aged pupils.
  • Understanding of or experience working with students with SEMH needs or in an alternative provision setting.
  • Strong communication skills, empathy, and adaptability.
