The Role

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping learners build confidence in reading, writing, communication and GCSE English Language/Literature. Many pupils require targeted support or adapted teaching approaches, making this a rewarding role for someone passionate about inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver creative, structured English lessons to KS3 & KS4 learners
  • Differentiate resources to meet a wide range of learning needs
  • Teach core English skills including reading comprehension, spelling, grammar and writing
  • Prepare pupils for GCSE English Language and/or Literature
  • Track progress, complete assessments and provide constructive feedback
  • Develop intervention programmes for learners below age-related expectations
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and the development of high-quality resources
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and resilience
  • Work closely with the SENDCo, pastoral team and wider staff
  • Uphold safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies
  • Participate in CPD and whole-school development
Requirements
  • QTS or QTLS (Essential)
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and/or KS4
  • Understanding of the needs of pupils with SEND or SEMH (training provided)
  • Strong behaviour management and resilience
  • Ability to inspire confidence and engagement in reluctant learners
  • Effective differentiation and scaffolded instruction
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community
