Overview

Teacher of English (Full-Time). From September 2026. Leighton Park School invites applications for an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of English to join our committed and forward-thinking English Department from September 2026. We welcome applications from both early-career and experienced teachers who are passionate about English and committed to inspiring young learners. The successful candidate will teach English across the full secondary age range with creativity, confidence, and high expectations. For the right candidate, there may be opportunities to take on an additional Second in Department responsibility.

In addition to excellent subject knowledge and classroom practice, we are looking for someone who will contribute to the broader life of the school. A willingness to participate in and help shape our vibrant Co-Curricular programme is essential.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Teach English across the full secondary age range with creativity, confidence, and high expectations.
  • Bring a genuine love of literature and language, inspiring and challenging students of all abilities, and foster critical thinking, communication and self-expression within a values-led environment.
  • Possess an appreciation of, or willingness to engage with, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, which forms a key part of our Sixth Form curriculum (desirable).
  • For the right candidate, opportunities may exist to take on an additional Second in Department responsibility.
  • Contribute to the broader life of the school and participate in shaping the Co-Curricular programme.

  • Excellent subject knowledge and classroom practice in English.
  • Interest in or openness to IB curriculum understanding (desirable).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
