English Teacher (Maternity Cover)

Location: Devon / Somerset border
Start Date: January 2026
Duration: Maternity Contract (Full-Time)

ANZUK Education is working with a secondary school on the Somerset/Devon border that is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their team from January to cover a maternity leave. This is a full-time position teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 English, with the potential opportunity to teach Drama depending on experience and timetable needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach English to KS3 & KS4 students (and Drama, if applicable)
• Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and inclusive lessons aligned with the national curriculum
• Mark and assess students work, providing meaningful feedback to support progress
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment that inspires a love of language and literature
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and build strong rapport with students
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to departmental planning and activities

Key Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching English at KS3 & KS4 level
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for English (and Drama, if applicable)
• Excellent communication, planning, and classroom management skills
• Ability to quickly adapt to a new school environment
• A passion for motivating and inspiring students
