Overview:

TeacherActive is working with an Outstanding mainstream secondary school in the Mansfield area. The school has high aspirations and offers fantastic support to all of its staff.

The school is looking to take on an English teacher starting in January 2026 on a long‑term, full‑time cover for the entire 2026 calendar year. The successful applicant will work across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including exam preparation for GCSEs, and will also include some Drama lessons.

The role will be paramount in helping students achieve excellent results in the subject, whilst following and implementing the schemes of learning.

Responsibilities:

As the successful English Teacher you will:

  • Deliver high‑quality teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE exam preparation.
  • Plan and assess lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and the school’s Learning Programme.
  • Incorporate Drama to support English teaching.
  • Use the school’s learning strategies and resources to promote reading fluency and confidence.
Qualifications:
  • A graduate with qualified teacher status.
  • An outstanding teacher in English, with a strong teaching record.
  • Relevant qualifications (both formal and through appropriate experience) to meet the challenge of the appointment.
  • Excellent in‑depth knowledge of the English curriculum and its place in the wider curriculum.
  • Understanding of the importance of a rigorous reading strategy to ensure students’ confidence and reading fluency.
