The Role: Making an Immediate Impact in English Education

A fantastic opportunity is available for a proactive and committed QTS English Teacher to join the well-established English department at a respected Secondary School in Cambridge on a temporary contract or supply basis (e.g., covering a long-term absence or maternity leave).

This role is crucial to maintaining the quality and continuity of student education. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering outstanding English lessons across the required age and ability range. Your efforts will directly contribute to a vibrant, inclusive, and challenging learning experience that promotes high standards of literacy and critical analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language and English Literature, ensuring all students are effectively taught and supported throughout the contract period.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing clear feedback that aligns with the school's standards.
  • Cultivate a dynamic and well-managed classroom environment, maintaining the existing high standards of behaviour and learning culture.
  • Collaborate effectively with department colleagues regarding lesson handovers, resources, and student progress updates.
  • Contribute positively to the day-to-day rhythm of the school, adhering to all school policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, alongside a relevant undergraduate degree in English or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) is required.
  • Strong adaptability and organisational skills required to pick up existing schemes of work and quickly build rapport with new students and staff.
  • An inspiring classroom presence with excellent behavioural management skills.
  • A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
