Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking English, Maths and Science Tutors to deliver bespoke 1:1 tuition to secondary students without a current school placement. Tutors will create, plan and deliver tailored lessons to bridge KS3/KS4 gaps and boost engagement and attainment.

Role involves working in the community or pupil’s home in Rochdale, part-time hours (approx. 15 hours/week per student), with a minimum pay rate of £22+ per hour. DBS check and two references are required.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent required.
• UK classroom teaching experience desirable.
• Creativity and patience essential.
• Experience working with SEND or disengaged pupils is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 bespoke tuition sessions.
• Plan and deliver tailored lessons to bridge KS3/KS4 gaps.
• Adapt lessons to meet individual pupil needs and timings.
• Support pupil engagement and attainment in English, Maths, and Science.

Prospero Teaching is looking for English, Maths and Science Tutors to deliver bespoke tuition packages on a 1:1 basis to secondary-aged young people that are currently without a school placement.

The Opportunity

This English, Maths and Science Tutor role is perfect for someone looking to step away from the classroom and make a difference to the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners. The successful tutor must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lesson to bridge gaps in KS3 or KS4 pupil’s education and boost engagement and attainment levels.

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the English, Maths and Science Tutor:

• QTS or equivalent
• Possess UK classroom teaching experience
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• Have experience working with SEND or disengaged pupils

To be eligible for this role, the potential 1:1 Primary Outreach Tutor must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child-related references.
