GCSE & Functional Skills English Lecturer

Location: Hackney

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £33,362 - £51,308 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Lecturer to deliver both GCSE and Functional Skills English at a leading Further and Higher Education provider in Hackney. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who is committed to helping learners of all backgrounds achieve their potential.

About the Role

As an English Lecturer, you will play a key role in supporting learners at different levels, from Functional Skills to GCSE. You will design and deliver engaging lessons, provide constructive feedback, and track student progress to ensure high levels of achievement. With your expertise and motivational approach, you will help learners gain the qualifications and confidence they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons at GCSE and Functional Skills levels.
• Develop and adapt schemes of work and resources to meet a diverse range of learner needs.
• Provide effective assessment and constructive feedback to support learner progression.
• Monitor attendance, progress and achievement records accurately.
• Create an inclusive, supportive and safe learning environment.
• Contribute to the department's continuous improvement and curriculum development.

Qualifications and Experience

• A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
• Relevant degree or Level 3+ qualification in English (or related subject).
• Experience teaching GCSE and Functional Skills English in Further or Higher Education.
• Strong classroom management, communication and organisational skills.
• Passion for supporting students to reach their full potential.
