King James’s School in Huddersfield invites applications from experienced English teachers, intervention specialists, or Early Career Teachers to join our English team.
You will deliver targeted interventions to small groups across KS4, monitor progress, and contribute to an ambitious English curriculum within a supportive department.
Are you an experienced English teacher who enjoys helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve their potential? Are you a skilled intervention practitioner who thrives on delivering focused, high-impact teaching? Or perhaps you are an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher looking to begin your career in a supportive and ambitious English department?
We are seeking to appoint a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our English team. We are particularly interested in appointing an experienced English Intervention Specialist who can deliver effective, targeted teaching and make a measurable difference to pupils' progress. We welcome applications from qualified teachers, but will also consider experienced practitioners who can demonstrate a strong track record of delivering successful English interventions.
We are equally keen to hear from promising Early Career Teachers who have the subject knowledge, enthusiasm and potential to make a valuable contribution to our department.
This role offers the opportunity to focus your expertise where it can have a significant impact: working closely with pupils, building their confidence and helping them achieve success. It is a role that offers the opportunity to develop professionally within a supportive department committed to excellent teaching and learning.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a department that is passionate about developing confident readers, effective writers and articulate young people.
For an intervention specialist, the role will primarily involve teaching small groups of pupils across Key Stages 4, providing focused support to address gaps in knowledge, strengthen literacy skills and improve confidence and achievement at GCSE level.
Working closely with the English team, you will plan and deliver purposeful intervention, monitor pupil progress and adapt your approach to ensure that support is responsive and effective. There may also be opportunities to provide a small amount of classroom teaching where appropriate.
For an Early Career Teacher, the role offers the opportunity to develop classroom practice, deliver an engaging and ambitious English curriculum and benefit from the support and expertise of experienced colleagues.
The precise nature of the appointment will reflect the qualifications, experience and strengths of the successful candidate.
