About the Role

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated English & Humanities Teacher to join a dynamic, community-focused all-through school in East London. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach across Key Stage 3 and 4, delivering high-quality lessons in English, History, Geography, and related humanities subjects, while inspiring students to achieve their academic best.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in English and Humanities (e.g., History, Geography).
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of a culturally diverse student body.
  • Use data to monitor student progress, intervene where needed, and set challenging targets.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, particularly in humanities subjects.
  • Provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that reflects the school's values.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including form tutors, department leads, and senior leadership.
  • Participate in whole-school initiatives, such as literacy drives, cross-disciplinary projects, and enrichment activities.
  • Undertake pastoral duties as required (tutor groups, student mentoring, behaviour management).
  • Maintain professional standards in line with school policy and safeguarding requirements.
Person Specification
Essential:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and at least one humanities discipline (History, Geography, etc.).
  • Experience teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to create well-structured, engaging lessons that spark curiosity.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Resilience, energy, and adaptability in a fast-paced school environment.
Desirable:
  • Experience teaching GCSE-level humanities or English.
  • Evidence of raising attainment or improving student outcomes.
  • Experience with cross-curricular or project-based learning.
  • An interest in contributing to extra-curricular clubs or activities.
