Cavendish Nuclear is offering a 10–12 week Engineering Undergraduate Summer Internship. You’ll work with defence programmes and cutting-edge technologies, learning how complex projects are delivered from design to maintenance, alongside experienced teams.

Job description

During this 10–12-week Engineering Undergraduate Summer Internship, you'll work on exciting defence programmes and cutting-edge technologies. Working alongside experienced teams, you'll learn how complex engineering projects are delivered, from design and manufacture to maintenance and support. You'll support shipbuilding, advanced manufacturing and engineering activities, with opportunities to contribute to programmes such as the Type 31 Frigate programme, Type 31 Frigate Programme, Missile Tubes Assembly Programme and the UK Submarine Dismantling Programme and Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier maintenance activities.

Throughout the programme, you'll:

  • Build your knowledge of marine engineering, electrical and mechanical systems, naval architecture, systems design, health and safety, and project management.
  • Develop skills in problem-solving, technical analysis, testing and validation, communication, engineering tools and software, collaboration, and technical documentation.
  • Develop the behaviours needed to become a professional engineer, including professionalism, adaptability, resilience, safety awareness, attention to detail and continuous learning.

  • To be studying a Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths (STEM) based degree in a relevant subject, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Systems Engineering.
