Engineering Test Technician

Location: Colchester

Salary: £25k-£28k

We’re looking for an Engineering Test Technician to carry out detailed testing on both new and existing electronic products. You’ll also maintain and calibrate test equipment to industry standards and support senior engineers on larger projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform technical tests and investigations using equipment such as network analysers, oscilloscopes, power supplies (including high voltage), DMMs and more.
  • Write basic C++ code in Visual Studio to automate test processes.
  • Produce clear test reports and organise test data.
  • Work with other departments to resolve issues found during testing.
  • Solder and repair cables, connectors, and components used for testing.
  • Manage equipment calibration to required standards: coordinate with external calibration providers, arrange shipments, and maintain accurate calibration records.
What You’ll Need
  • Education: BTEC Level 3 / A-Levels in an engineering discipline (preferably electronics) or relevant experience.
  • Experience:
    • Ability to fault-find down to component level.
    • Confident using test equipment such as DMMs, network analysers, ATE systems, and oscilloscopes.
    • Previous experience in an engineering or test role.
  • Skills:
    • Solid understanding of electronic principles.
    • Creative, proactive, and forward-thinking.
