Position: Engineering Technician

Location: Hook, Basingstoke

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Technician to join a growing engineering team based in Hook, near Basingstoke. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a passion for testing, problem-solving, and working with cutting-edge electro-mechanical systems. The successful candidate will support the development and refinement of specialised technical equipment through structured testing, assembly, and troubleshooting. Working closely with engineers and technical staff, you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality, reliable products for use in real-world applications.

Job Overview
  • Plan and carry out structured test procedures on complex automated systems
  • Assemble, test, and validate mechanical and electronic components and prototypes
  • Analyse and clearly present test data to engineering teams
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues alongside design engineersMaintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory/test environment
  • Provide occasional support to other departments, such as preparing kit for demonstrations
Requirements
  • A practical, hands-on technician with strong problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working across multiple disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Able to manage time effectively and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Attention to detail and a methodical working style
  • Demonstrable experience in structured testing and clear documentation of results
  • Practical skills such as soldering, assembling test rigs, or setting up lab equipment
  • Able to work independently and take initiative when required
  • Willingness to learn across a broad range of engineering topics
  • BTEC, HND, or degree in an engineering-related discipline
  • Previous experience in a test lab or systems testing environment
  • Basic knowledge of electronics or embedded platforms (e.g., Arduino or Raspberry Pi)
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira or other project tracking systems
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary between £25,000-£30,000, depending on experience
