Job summary

Catalent is seeking an Engineering Technical Expert at its Swindon site to lead root cause analysis of downtime, drive maintenance strategies, and train Production Engineering teams. The role emphasizes TPM, CAPEX, and regulatory compliance in a 100% onsite environment.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance equipment reliability and performance, ensuring first-time fixes and safe operations.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an engineering apprenticeship.
• Engineering degree required.
• 3+ years in a similar role is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause analysis of equipment downtime to improve OEE, MTBF, and MTTR.
• Deliver and coordinate technical training programmes for Production Engineering teams.
• Implement preventative maintenance strategies and drive first-time fix on breakdowns.
• Act as SME in continuous improvement and TPM.
• Manage change control processes and CAPEX documentation.
• Support introduction of new and existing equipment through training and maintenance planning.
• Monitor equipment performance and drive improvements via CMMS.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards and promote health and safety.

Our Swindon facility houses our Zydis® fast dissolving tablet development and manufacturing operation as well as a CMC pharmaceutical analytical lab services unit that offers ASAP stability.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for an Engineering Technical Expert to join our team. In this role, you will lead root cause analysis of equipment downtime and implement preventative maintenance strategies. You will deliver technical training, support new equipment introduction, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This is a chance to make a real impact on equipment performance and reliability in a regulated environment.

Shift: Monday to Friday

Location: Swindon, UK

100% Onsite

The Role

• Lead root cause analysis of equipment downtime to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Mean Time Between Failure, and Mean Time To Repair
• Deliver and coordinate technical training programmes for Production Engineering teams
• Implement preventative maintenance strategies and drive a first-time fix approach to breakdowns
• Act as a subject matter expert in continuous improvement and total productive maintenance
• Manage change control processes and capital expenditure documentation
• Support the introduction of new and existing equipment through training and maintenance planning
• Monitor equipment performance and drive improvements through computerised maintenance management systems
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards and promote a strong health and safety culture, including lockout/tagout procedures

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

• Previous apprenticeship in engineering
• Engineering degree
• 3 years or more experience in a similar role
• Physical requirement: walking around and sitting

Preferred Skills & Background

• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
• Background in large-scale manufacturing process organisation
