Job summary

Warburtons is seeking an Engineering Team Leader for 41 Bakery in Wakefield. You will lead a small team of Multi-Skilled Engineers on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern across days and nights, ensuring the bakery runs safely and efficiently.

You’ll combine hands-on engineering expertise with strong people leadership to coach your team, drive improvements, and foster a proactive culture focused on safety and performance.

Qualifications

• A recognised engineering qualification such as an apprenticeship, HNC or degree.
• Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge with fault-finding experience.
• Experience in a maintenance environment, ideally FMCG/food manufacturing or fast-paced settings.
• Good knowledge of engineering health and safety requirements.
• Confidence to prioritise work and make decisions under pressure.
• Strong communication, coaching and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with Engineering and Production colleagues.
• Experience with maintenance systems such as SAP PM or quick to learn them.
• PLC and Allen-Bradley fault-finding experience is advantageous.

Are you an experienced Engineering Team Leader, Lead Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer ready to take the next step?

We’re looking for an Engineering Team Leader to join our team at 41 Bakery in Wakefield, leading and supporting a small team of Multi-Skilled Engineers working a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern across days and nights.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll combine your engineering knowledge with your ability to get the best from people.

The Recipe

No two shifts will be quite the same. You’ll lead and develop a small team of Multi-Skilled Engineers, keeping the bakery running safely and reliably. You’ll coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, tackle more complex engineering issues and work closely with Production to reduce downtime and improve performance.

Alongside the day-to-day, you’ll coach your team, champion safety and encourage new ideas and better ways of working. It’s a hands-on leadership role where you can make a real difference to both your people and the bakery.

You’ll bring a strong engineering background, but just as importantly, you’ll enjoy working with people and creating a positive, high-performing team.

• A recognised engineering qualification, such as an apprenticeship, HNC or degree.
• Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge and practical fault-finding experience.
• Experience within a maintenance environment, ideally FMCG, food manufacturing or another fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Good knowledge of engineering health and safety requirements.
• The confidence to make decisions, prioritise work and remain calm when things don’t go to plan.
• Strong communication, coaching and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to build trusted relationships with Engineering and Production colleagues.
• Experience using maintenance systems such as SAP PM, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• PLC and Allen-Bradley fault-finding experience would be advantageous, but it isn’t essential.
