About the Role

As an Engineering Support Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a key role in aligning engineering operations with commercial and contractual requirements, while supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects for the Royal Navy.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead a multi‑disciplinary team responsible for delivering business support, project engineering, and planning services across our Facilities Engineering (FE) organisation. This is a high‑impact leadership role that fuses strategic planning, financial oversight, and technical expertise to shape operational performance and planning precision.

  • Managing the output of business support, project engineering, and planning teams.
  • Leading the development and delivery of the Annual Plan (AP) to meet contract and budget requirements.
  • Translating customer project management and planning needs into operational processes.
  • Overseeing business intelligence reporting and acting as Information Asset Owner (IAO).
  • Supporting financial forecasting and providing technical input for procurement activities.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential Experience
  • Proven experience in project management, planning, and project controls.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of information asset protection and cost centre finance management.
  • Effective conflict resolution and decision‑making abilities.
  • Strong written and presentation skills.
Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering or a related field, or
  • HND/HNC in engineering or a related discipline, or
  • Level 6 NVQ in engineering with extensive industry experience and demonstrable technical and managerial competencies.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
